The Beach

The beach at Gopalpur is blessed with some of the most pristine shoreline on the eastern coast of India.  This quiet beach stretches about half a mile on the shores of Bay of Bengal.  The sand is free from shells and quite clean.  The water is warm and comforting through out the year and ideal for swimming.
The beach is quiet enough for you to find a spot for yourself to relax with the blue skies on the backdrop (except of course during monsoon) and the gentle breeze soothing the tired mind.

Since the beach faces east ward, sunrises are spectacular.  It is worth the effort to wake up in the early hours of the morning and feel the surroundings the beach has to offer.

Goplapur is the perfect beach, fairly isolated and undisturbed. Once an ancient seaport, today Gopalpur-on-sea is probably one of Orissa's most attractive and modern beach resorts fringed by sand dunes drawing tourists from all over the world.
Nearby there stands a lone imposing lighthouse complementing the scenery at the beach.  There also are the ruins of an old jetty from where sailors set out to Indonesia in medieval times.
