The University
Sri Jagannath Sanskrit University is the third Sanskrit University in India. Located in a natural setting, it is 4 km from the railway station. It imparts traditional learning of Sanskrit text relating to seven branches, namely, Sanskrit literature(Sahitya),grammar(vyakarana) ,three Branches of Indian Philosophy (Nyaya, Vedanta, Sarvadarshana ), Indian Law and Jurisprudence (Dharmashastra) and Veda.
Only Post Graduate teaching , Doctoral and post Doctoral research facilities are availble in the PG Teaching Departments. This University has extended affiliation to more than one hundred pre-degree and degree colleges of Orissa.
Courses
- Two years Acharya (M.A)
- One year Vshistacharya (M.Phil) in Dharmashastra, Vyakarana, Adwaita vedanta, Nyaya, Sarvadarshan, Veda and Sahitya
Eligibility
For Acharya : Shastri Degree from this Vishvavidyalaya or any Sanskrit examination of the University/Institution recognised as equivalent thereto or BA(Hons) in Sanskrit as one of the subjects from any University recognised by this Vishvavidyalaya securing at least 45% marks in Sanskrit pass papers or 40% marks in Honours papers(in case of without honours)
Seats are limited and scholarship facilities are available to meritorious students.
- For Vishistacharya: Acharya or equivalent degree in relevant discipline securing atleast 55% marks
