Captive Power Plants of NALCO, Angul (720MW) &
ICCL, Choudwar (100MW), Rourkela Steel Plant generate power for own consumption. But provision for 80 MW is reserved for GRIDCO.
Independent Power Plants are yet to take shape. Only two units are finalised.
1. Kalinga Power Corporation, Duburi (2x250MW)
2. AES Ib Valley Corporation, Ib Valley (2x250MW).
Both will be Thermal Power Stations. The present set up makes 960 MW of Power available to GRIDCO
from Thermal Power Stations in Orissa and 370 MW from outside the State through NTPC.
Orissa Power Reform Project has its Project Management Unit under the consultancy of Merz & Mclellan / Seeboard International.
